Information:
The BaCaTeC Summer School 2004 will bring together a number of the
worlds leading experts in NMR spectroscopy at the Univeristy of
Bayreuth to train students and young scientist. Nuclear magnetic
resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is a powerful technique used to
investigate the three-dimensional structures of biological
macromolecules in solution as well as in the solid state. Knowledge of
three-dimensional structures is required for the understanding of
biological processes, the mechanisms of diseases, and the design of
novel drugs. Thus, NMR will be a key-technique in the post-genome aera,
when the structures of thouthands of biological macromolecules and
their complexes have to be solved. The scope of this Summer School is
to privide its participants with the knowledge required to achieve this
goal.
So
far, students, postdoctoral researchers, as well as industrial
researchers from eight different countries from all over the world have
been accepted for the summer school. 21 grants covering accomodation as
well as 21 travel grants have been awarded to students and postdoctoral
researchers from the Bavaria and California.
