The focus of the BaCaTeC Summer School 2004 is on the determination of biomolecular assemblies by NMR in solution. There will be four major parts:

    1) a lecture series including topics such as

- basic principles and pulse sequences in biomolecular NMR
             - distance based NMR restraints
             - NMR restraints from coupling constants
             - dynamics, kinetics, and NMR
             - advances in processing and assignment
             - structure calculation and docking
             - methods for stable-isotope enrichment and spin labeling
             - introduction into solid state NMR
             - NMR under extreme conditions and more ...

     2) a series of practically oriented case studies on e.g.

- calculation of nucleic acid structure structures
             - structure determination of a protein-protein complex
             - structure determination of protein-nucleic acid complexes
             - determination of inter-domain orientations
             - structural changes induces by cofactor binding
             - dynamic information from RDC´s and CCR
             - kinetics and dynamics in complex formation
             - application of biomolecular NMR in industry

    3) practical exercises and discussion groups

- access to NMR spectrometers
             - access to workstation farm

    4) poster presentations

Preliminary Schedule and Activities:

The Summer School will start Sunday, October 3rd. Registration, lectures, and poster session will take place in building NWII, room H18 (upper floor) on the campus (click here for a map). Registration will be open on Sunday, October 3rd from 3 p.m. on. A free shuttel bus will be available between train station, hotel, and conference location (please see the Travel and Accommodation page). The shuttle service will be available during the entire Summer School and pick up people at the Hotel at 8:15 a.m. and drop people at the hotel in the evening. Lectures and case studies will start at 8:30  a.m. in building NWII, room H18. A detailed schedule will be available at the front desk during registration.

During breaks, coffee and snacks will be served in front of H18. Lunch as well as dinner will be held at the Universities refectory (Mensa). A conference banquet is planned for Thursday evening. We also plan an excursion on Wednesday afternoon to the historic center of Bamberg (UNESCO world heritage).

Poster sessions take place Monday evening and Tuesday evening in from of H18. Poster walls will be availale from Sunday on. Posters should be mounted by Monday morning. Mounting material will be available at the front desk. Posters should not exceed size DIN A0 (84 cm wide x 119 cm high).
